Can we make a blood substitute?
My research aims to develop an artificial blood substitute that is a safe, long-lasting virus-free alternative to current blood transfusions available to all countries and immediately accessible at the site of natural disasters. My research in this area has been funded by the UK government (BBSRC, MRC) and the European Union. I have two current patents in this area.
